"The threw up in my mouth a little" thing has gotten out of hand.
That's absolutely true, and I almost used another phrase. But there's only one that's appropriate for this particular case.
I've always liked the phrase "it makes me want to vomit down my own pants" as an alternative.I shan't go into details of why I prefer this particular phrase; I assume that some advantages are evident.
The only thing worse would be if you "just peed a little bit." Of course that would be the opposite reaction.
