Keep It Up - The Smithsonian

Seriously, have you ever been to the Smithsonian? It's amazing! I mean, the art museums are only pretty good, but they have the actual Spirit of St. Louis! Space capsules! Mr. Rogers' sweater! It would be quite easy to spend two weeks there. And it's free! Totally free! God bless the USA. KEEP IT UP, THE SMITHSONIAN: AMERICA'S MUSEUM.

One of the greatest things about living in DC is the Smithsonian. It has spoiled me for when I go to museums in other cities. One time when my girlfriend and I were in Vegas, there was a hip vintage clothing store she wanted to check out, and they wanted to charge us $1 to browse (which would be applied to any purchases we would make). I told the trendster that I can go the National Archives and see the Declaration Of Independance for free, but I have to pay to look at some old clothes?
Not surprisingly, I failed to sway her. Needless to say, we did not pay.
When I lived in DC, the coolest thing about it was my voice traveling through space, but the second cooles thing was definately the Smithsonian. The third coolest thing was nothing. There was no third coolest thing.
Three words:
Ben's Chili Bowl.
More words than three: I don't know what that is.
You must not have lived here very long. Ben's is a legendary soul food restaurant that is located in the heart of what was once black DC's cultural community - the local equivalent of 125th Street or Beale Street. It has survived riots, receession, and U Street turning into an open-air drug market. As U Street has undergone a revitalization, it has gained the recognition it so richly deserves, both for its great food and its dedication to its community.

Oh... that's near where my auntie lives. I only lived in DC for two three-month stretches, and in neither case did I actually live in the district. Once was in Takoma Park and once was in Arlington (more like snooze-lington).
The first time was for an internship with XM, the second was because of an internship I was offered but didn't end up getting at NPR (my girlfriend had already gotten herself an internship there, so I worked at Borders).
My mom is originally from DC.
I have some friends that live in Takoma Park. Nice area. I can see that, if you lived there and Arlington for only six months, you wouldn't have had too many opportunities to come up to that area.
