Girls Guitar Club

Strangely, Mary Lynn Rajskub has become famous for her character Chloe on "24." I have to say that I've never seen 24, but I have seen Mary Lynn and Karen Kilgariff rock the house with the Girls' Guitar Club.

Here's a short film they made in 2001, which features Nick Swardson among others.

It's like the perfect opposite of Tenacious D.

They were very much contemporaneous and part of the same scene. And GGC is nearly as funny.

Contemporaneous? Your vocabulary cracks me up.

I'm really glad the Girls committed something to film back then. Reports are Karen and Mary Lynn have no plans on getting back together as The Girls Guitar Club of Greater Los Angeles. Mary Lynn once mentioned that they were starting to get good at guitar which may have signaled that the running joke of GGC (that the Girls were mediocre guitar players) had run it's course. They almost got together last year at the L.A.Improv, but Karen couldn't make it.

For me, the music died when MLR grew out the bangs.
