The Sound of Young America: The College Years
So I'm starting a new podcast, called The Sound of Young America: The College Years. Lots of folks ask me what happened to Jordan, where did the banter go, that sort of thing. I have a big pre-podcasting archive of TSOYA broadcasts on CD, so I thought I'd podcast them for anyone who's interested.
But here's the question... should I do them in order? I'm inclined to, except that of course, the ones at the beginning are rougher than the ones later on. I guess that could be part of the fun, but won't it bother people?

Sure, the beginning will be rougher, but that's part of the fun, seeing how the show progressed and grew up.
On the one hand, it would be interesting to see the progression of TSOYA. On the other, I'd prefer the episodes be presented in a completely random order. Adds a little spice to the podcasting business.
Jesse, I'll subscribe even if they're in Latin. Chronological order would probably be best, though, as painful as it may be.
So far 2-1 in favor of chronological order.
Be aware that the archives are far from complete.
Good for you, I hear all the money is in syndication.
I think I'd prefer a chronological system. How about a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning release to space it out with the new stuff?
Put me down for "greatest hits." Why not start with the best shows and go from there? It's not like TSOYA is a serial or anything...
I'd vote for chronological as well. It would be great to hear the evolution of your excellent program, and putting them in random order would hurt our ability to have any sense of what was going on in the outside world as context for the episodes.
Please put me down for chronological. It will play into my obsessive-compulsive tendencies.
I'd like to drop a vote for "screw you guys, I'll do it however I want." If you have reservations about doing it chronological, maybe you're the best person to decide against it.
That said, I'd personally like chronological.
Chronological is fine with me... and it sounds like that's the overwhelming preference of the people.
I'd have a hard time doing a best of, anyway, because not only can I not remember what was the best, the CDs aren't labeled except by date (without year, in many cases), so I had to use detective work to figure it out.
We'll start in January of 2001, when the show was still on early in the morning. I think we did one academic quarter in the AM, maybe two. It's pretty close to the very beginning.
Do you still have the one where we sing the Dad song?
Today on the Sound of Young America /
The battle of the dads.
We'll see whose dad can beat whose dad /
and see whose dad is rads.
Dad-dad-dad-dad
Dad-dad-dad-dad
Dad-dad-dad-dad
Dad Daaaaad
Not only do I have that, but I think it's up on the website streaming already...
In fact... here it is.
"I can lick any dad, because it's Jordan, and I'm Jordan's dad."
"Boo."
This hour of radio rules. It's both charming, and winning, so it's chwinning, and that's great.
