Will Franken - "Best Alternative to Psychadelic Drugs"

Will Franken was recently voted "Best Comedian" in the San Francisco Weekly and "Best Alternative to Psychadelic Drugs" in the San Francisco Bay Guardian. He performs a remarkable blend of solo theater, standup, and sketch comedy, seemlessly transitioning between characters like a funny version of Robin Williams.

I spoke with Will this weekend -- he'll be performing in Los Angeles tonight at Comedy Death Ray with Sarah Silverman, among others, and tommorow (Wednesday) he performs solo at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Tickets for the latter show are a mere $5. He's also performing June 21st at the Marsh Theater in San Francisco. More info here.

Not that it's a competition or anything, but will makes zach galifianakis look like a guy doing fairly straightforward oneliners at a piano. He is a genius and anyone easily swayed by anonymous comments on a blog should check him out...

This guy is kind of different from what I usually enjoy so naturally I didn't like him at first.

He totally won me over.

I know exactly what you mean, Jeff. First time I saw him I found it to be annoying solo theater stuff, but I really warmed to it. He's a really good guy, too.
