An Early Start

Hello, TSOYA Faithful.

I am very excited and very nervous to guest blog for Jesse while he moves downstream. So nervous, in fact, that I am writing this three days ahead of time in order to assure some quality and quantity. I am also posting this at 5:30 in the morning because I am going to Buffalo this weekend. What. You've never been? Despite my love of MC Chris, I will adhere to Jesse's "no nerd-core" rule, but I will probably tax his "make it pithy" guideline. I also veer toward self-indulgence, but I'll try to temper that with many short posts that are not about me. In the meantime, here's me!

Know Your Guest Blogger
Name: Joe Garden
Born: March 10, 1970
Marital Status: Married
Likes: Kittens, The Sound of Young America, Something Awful, the Nintendo Wii, , Resident Evil Walkthrough Guides, music (more to come on that), good comedy, things that are awesome.
Dislikes: Rules, the man.
Trivia: Joe appeared nude in the Onion (find it yourself). He played a file cabinet named Phil Cabinet in one of the least popular episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and provided commentary on not one but TWO episodes on the DVD release of Season 4 of Home Movies. Also, Joe is into shameful self-promotion.
Fears: You will not like me.

Today's Question: Do people hate Dane Cook because he is so friendly or because he is not funny? Seriously, I do not know. Please let 'er fly.

In the mean time, here is a picture of my favorite graffiti from Buffalo.

I listened to all of those commentaries, and I want you to know this: you alone were better than Modest Mouse. I'm pretty sure the two bands, as good as they are, have never, ever seen an episode of the show.

that's some pretty sweet graffiti.

personally, i hate dane cook because there is at least one of him in every high school in america, and none of those kids are getting paid to act like raving lunatic assclowns. if dane cook split his comedy central paychecks with those kids, i'd have less of a problem with him.

also, anyone with that many myspace friends is destined for douchebaggery.

I hate Dane Cook becuase he's a douche. I mean, did you see Tourgasm? The fact that he's not funny is just helpful.

Joe,

Lets talk more about resident evil. Which one is your favorite? If you say "4" which is your favorite besides that one? Do you like the movies?

Perhaps I am jumping to conclusions thinking you like the games. Maybe you are just into really well writen walkthroughs.

I did the math. Born in 1970 makes you 38 years old, roughly. Way to keep living.

Re: The Douchery of Dane Cook. I haven't watched a lot of Tourgasm. Personally, I'm so turned off by the logo that I can't bring myself to watch it. The previews I've seen remind me of the worst aspects of rock bands touring. Fart jokes and childish pranks are all well and good, but I don't want to watch otther people's childish time-killing jokes while being assured that its "entertainment." I brought it up because there was a cloud vitriol surrounding him even before Tourgasm.

Troy Coll may be onto something when it comes to extremely high numbers of MySpace friends.

Jordan, my first new video game system, EVER, was the GameCube just to play the Resident Evil games. Resident Evil 4 is definitely my favorite. My personal high in the Mercenaries mini-game is in the neighborhood of 150,000 as Wesker in the castle scenario. After RE4 would have to be the REmake, aka Resident Evil 1 for the GameCube. I have not seen the movies in the theater, but I will watch them whenever they are on cable, which is often. My wife, on the other hand, watches The Day After Tomorrow whenever it is on and plays the chore games like A Wonderful Life and Animal Crossing.

Back to RE, I am on pins and needles waiting for RE 5. This might require buying a PlayStation 3 or (shudder) XBox 360, unless they release it for the Wii, which I will buy anyway because I am hooked on hype.

Joe,

Mercenaries is the greatest post-beat-the-game feature of all time. I would have bought it seperately. 150,000 is very impressive.

I too feel a little bit of a shudder when I consider buying a 360 (I tend to sterotype Xbox owners as the kind of guys who wear cargo shorts and sandals out to bars), but I'll be damned if some of those games (Dead Rising and Lost Planet specifically) don't look amazing.
