America sucks.

Billboard tells no lies:

TW RK Artist Title TW Sales % CHG LW Sales RTD Sales
13 NICKELBACK ALL THE RIGHT REASONS 54,727 -3 56,511 3,592,511

That's 3.5 x platinum. For NICKELBACK. IN 2006.

Look at it this way: 3.5 million Americans bought Nicklback, but 296.5 million Americans didn't.

Or maybe 1 million Americans bought Nickelback 3.5 times each.

I feel a responsibilty to apologize, as a Canadian. I'm so sorry, guys. Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, and Nickelback...Sorry.

No need to apologize for being Canadian. After all, you did give us Alex Trebek.

You know, I have to say there is something very hypnotizing about that picture of Nickelback. They look so tough in such a dorky kind of way. It's like going 20 years into the future and looking back at everything that was wrong with music 20 years ago.

Jesse, if you're ever looking for a contest idea, I'd love to see a caption contest for this photo. I wonder what these guys are thinking...

I can't stay mad at a group of 30-somethings that can pretend to be adolescents singing about road head without even an ounce of shame. It's awful, but it's an awful purity, and I can't knock that.

I'm not really mad at them. I'm mad at a world in which they're the only people actually selling any records.

I never thought I would be able to find anything at all positive to say about this band, but I think I've done it:

They're arguably better than Hawthorne Heights.

I wonder how much of those sales are from old people trying to "connect with the kids?"
