I haven't heard/seen a ton of Nina Simone, so maybe that's just her style, but in this clip she seems somewhat...dispassionate. Which, given the song's lyrics and the setting, seems a bit odd to me.
One thing Nina Simone was not was dispassionate. Maybe she's an acquired taste. Feb. 21 is Nina Simone's birthday and I posted a link on my site to her performing one of my favorites, "House of the Rising Sun."

See, I'm not getting that at all. I thought it was a great clip.
"I got my boobies"...?
This song is in the Hair musical, and she toned it down by saying "boobies" instead of "tits," which is in the musical version.
But, yeah, this clip is really awesome.
