Let us know what kind of equipment you decide to get. It is kind of a pain in the ass to get the perfect system at a decent price.
After a lot of research, I bought a Panasonic PV-GS400 used on craigslist. Got a very good price. Not HD, but fantastically reviewed and has all the pro-am type controls that I'll need to do this properly.
