If you have some free time, and feel a little adventurous, try renting an ocean kayak at nearby Morro Bay. The water there is really calm and completely cut off from the actual ocean. I have had many a fun time cruising around the bay during family vacations.
Plus sea otters come right up to your kayak while floating around on their back! IT DOES NOT GET MORE AWESOME THAN SEA OTTERS!
