Flava in ya ear!

Mike Schmidt, formerly of Never Not Funny, has launched a new podcast called The 40-Year-Old Boy. This is a direct link to the feed - copy and paste into iTunes.

Full set from highly esteemed UK alt-comic Daniel Kitson (authorized by no less than Mr. Daniel Kitson)

This is kind of old news, but since their publicists sent it to me with permission to post it, here's N.E.R.D.'s awesome single "Everyone Nose"

NPR: Long Duk Dong, Last of the Hollywood Stereotypes?

Music Festival Dos and Don'ts with the Internets Celebrities

Sure like this new Busta

Seattle's KEXP is picking up a repeater station in New York City

New single (legal download!) from Flight of the Conchords is on Brooklyn Vegan

The earliest audio recordings weren't in the 1890s on wax cylinders -- scientists have deciphered recordings on something called a Phonautogram from the 1860s.

I think I'm gonna like this State Prop album. Peet Crack Daddilac!

Damian Kulash, past TSOYA guest and lead singer of OK, GO!, argues convincing in favor of net neutrality in the NY Times

Geoff Nunberg responds to all the dorks who email me about saying "um."

Flava In Ya Ear

New Roots f. Dice Raw and Peedi Crakk is bananas!

XM has launched a bunch of podcasts, including not one but TWO comedian interview shows, and Bob Edwards Weekend.

MFer Doug-Life remixed "Hyphy" by The Federation (and E-40) with The Free Design's "Love You," aka the theme to JJGo. Kick ass.

Neither Memphis Bleek nor Uncle Murder is a great rapper, but this is a pretty hot record.

Yeah, Billy Danze of MOP - God Bless and Goodnight

And "Gangsta". It is Billy Danze's opinion that you, sir or madam, are not gangsta. And he is unafraid to express that opinion emphatically.

Long, longtime TSOYA supporter Martin Degrell (of Sweden) has started a music podcast called Hour of Truth. Check it out!

New Devin mixtape (direct torrent link)

T-Mo Goodie f. TI - Connect Like Dots (love the white-guy voice chorus)

Devin leaving Rap-A-Lot

CHAIN FIGHT TONIGHT! The Gorch visits The Best Show

Audio plays by The Coen Bros and Charlie Kaufman (THANKS FORUMERS!)

Onion editors on WNYC -- listen as Joe Garden offers to pledge in exchange for Brooke Gladstone's autograph on his chest.

Flava in ya ear...

George Saunders, Zadie Smith and Vendela Vida discuss making fiction on WNYC

This unreleased Dangerous-era Michael Jackson tune is pretty jammin.

And speaking of the K of P, here's Rhymefest's new mixtape -- which is all MJ samples.

The AV Club celebrates "Nillson Sings Newman," the wonderful late 60s teaming of Harry and Randy.

Nation of Thizzlam runs down the best of Yay Area hip-hop in 2007. Was it the year Hyphy died?

Dan Deacon working on new 7" and album

Missy Elliott is underrated. And maybe overrated too, but more under than over.

Great interview with Peedi Crakk in Hip Hop Game -- an update from our interview a year or so ago.

Billy Danze of MOP - New York

Paul & Storm - If James Taylor Were on Fire (hilarious)

Classic Geto Boys video - Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangsta

Honestly, I can't think of a better dude to be on the Flashing Lights remix than Kells. He's perfect for the cool alienation combined with raw emotion on that record. Still creepy that he videotaped himself peeing on the teenage girl, though, huh?

Stretch and Bobbito reunion? Fuck yeah.

New Andre 3K - Art of Storytellin' Pt. 4

Cocaine Blunts interviews underrated Dungeon Family member Witchdoctor, who didn't show up for his interview on The Sound of Young America

DID YOU KNOW: Singer/rapper Novel's uncle is Solomon Burke? Also, his album that never came out like five years ago was pretty good. Also, this is his new video.

I am interviewed extensively on the podcast of the Chicago Center for Literature and Photography

Jonathan Coulton in French!

The Life and Times of the legendary Chief Rocker Busy Bee

The Onion's AV Club lists the great masters of stage banter.

A huge cache of Stephen Fry radio programs (via Jumbodump)

Solomon Burke performs "Down in the Valley," looks like maybe in the early to mid 80s. There is only one King of Rock & Soul.

Zapp & Roger live in 1989 (thanks Adam)

While we're on the subject, this video of 40- and 50-somethings dancing to jheri-curl funk while Tom Joyner makes odd encouraging comments warms my heart.

This Junior Senior video makes me feel GLAD!

David Wain on Fair Game

Not to mention Greg Giraldo

"Tell ya managers / I'm in the building with keys / Call me janitors" - brand new borderline nonsense from NORE

Ill Doctrine documents a 4-country multi-lingual freestyle cypher. The hotness.

Jonathan Coulton is on the road again!

Flava in ya ear...

Here's me on the Alt.NPR podcast "Club Awesome." I talk about how much I love my girlfriend and then I talk about Andrew WK, who I also love, but in a purely platonic way. (MP3)

Paul Rudd visits Fresh Air to promote "The Ten," is interviewed for 40 minutes without mention of "The Ten," outside of re-sets ("Paul Rudd is the star of The Ten")

Probably Werner Herzog should get the award for craziest/fascinatingest/hilariousest/thoughtfullest German American now, we can just skip the nominating process.

?uestlove visits Gilles Peterson's show on Radio 1

Tunequest.org takes a look at John Vanderslice's "Exodus Damage," which he talked about on this very program.

Ricky Gervais on Fresh Air

The rise and fall of hip-hop producer Disco D

Jon Lovitz explains his brawl with Andy Dick on the Dennis Miller radio show

Finally, Thom Yorke and Weird Al are working together.

Download the new mixtape by the Houston MC Trae (who's excellent, btw)

A movie about soap magnate Dr. Bronner? AWESOME.

I am so pro-dance-craze. From Louisiana: The Cupid Shuffle

New Dipset that I like? Suprise! It's true!

Chamillionaire's "Can't Tell Me Nothin" freestyle is excellent.

I'm not sure if this video, made by listener Max Goldberg, represents what's good and charming about college guy humor, or what's wrong with it. It is kind of funny, though.

Finally, someone has stepped up to the plate on a matter of vital national interest. Our own DJW remixes the theme from "Airwolf."

Flava in Ya Ear

David Mamet on Talk of the Nation: whether his aphorisms are meaningful or meaningless, they are always delightful. Mamet to listener: "that's a little bit sophist of you, and I honor you for it." He also explains why "Galaxy Quest" is a perfect movie.
