I live very close to Mystic Pizza in Mystic, Connecticut - the inspiration for the movie of the same name. The movie was shot in town, but at a different location. Though the movie is 25 years-old and had moderate success, tourists are still taking pictures in front of the restaurant daily. After the movie came out, the owners expanded and renovated so that it no longer was remotely the same place. For 25 years, people have been taking their pictures in front of a facsimile of a facsimile of a facsimile for reasons I do not understand.
As a Canadian, I must shamefully admit I was thrilled by the references to Corner Gas et al. Though, in terms of crime when we go nuts we really go nuts:
