Guinea worm monkey wrench

There's been an interesting development in the work to eradicate Guinea worm. It appears the species that infects humans has made the jump to dogs:

I have listened to nearly all

I have listened to nearly all the episodes. This is by far the most horrible. OOH MY GOD. The other worm episode is way way more tolerable. Please, people. If you have you a hankering for some parisitic worms, go listen to the roundworms episode. That one didn't affect me, cataracts didn't affect me, most of the normal ol' disease ones don't affect me, but for some reason this episode was just really really horrible.

Nanophyetus Salmincola

I really enjoyed listening to this episode, especially Justin's complete inability to deal the with the worm removal.

When she was in school to become an RVT, my partner was "given" a parasite and told to give a creative presentation about it to her class. Although salmon poisoning mostly occurs in dogs and not humans, I thought you might enjoy her explanation:

Fascinating! And horrible...

As a microbiologist I was so excited about your episode on there guinea worm! Please, spread the knowledge about the horrifying things that can invade your body, they are fascinating! I would like to hear a podcast about fungi in medicine at some point. They are much more interesting than they get credit for. My favorite is the death cap mushroom but there are many that have had a huge impact on medicine. Also, if you do another show on creepy parasites acanthamoeba is pretty scary. Or any other amoeba that eats your eyes or brain. Thanks for the show, love it!

On Star Trek: TNG the caduceus is on the walls of sick bay.

Well, now I'm traumatized

This was the first episode I couldn't get through because of pure ickyiness...and now my leg is itchy. EWWWWWWWWWWWW. I love you guys, but EWWWWWWWWW.
