It’s the first the first episode of 2017!
To celebrate, we’re looking back on some of the most significant events that defined 2016. That includes happenings like the reintroduction of the Women’s Title, AJ Styles’s coming out party and more.
Plus, God help us, the WWE has ANOTHER new show that debuted this week on the WWE Network. Bring it to the Table is, apparently, WWE’s way of addressing and bashing the opinions of fans. We’ll explain why that may not be the best idea going forward.
And of course, we’ll break down the first 2017 episodes of RAW and Smackdown*.
*Authors note: Next we’ll be talking Wrestle Kingdom XI next week, promise!
The Three Count:
Danielle put over The Mack’s big moment as the Hollywood Champion.
Mike put over Teddy Hart on the latest edition of Talk is Jericho.
Hal put over The last time that he’ll appreciate Bruce Prichard’s impressions on Something to Wrestle…. With Bruce Prichard..
Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Mike Eagle
Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Before Tights and Fights properly launched, the Nation of Conversation recorded several pilot episodes to help work out the format of the show.
This week, with the show on holiday hiatus, we’re sharing a sampling of some of our favorite moments from those pilot sessions.
You’ll hear about the team’s favorite merchandise, what they thought about the very first Final Deletion, why Goldberg is such a rude podcast guest and much much more.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Look: I'm as excited as the next guy about John Hodgman coming to my town. I'm so excited that I'm inviting him over TO MY HOME. And even allowing his feral mountain man sidekick to CO-HOST one of my programs.
But what about you, Seattle?
Are you taking care of business?
Because not only is Hodgman coming to see you, and not only is he bringing his mountain friend, but he's also bringing Sean Nelson AND John Roderick. That's TWO indie rock super-celebs, ONE expert on everything, ONE singing feral mountain man, and ONE show that you should not miss.
TICKETS ARE FIVE BUCKS! Are you kidding me?!
A challenge: there were FOUR Sound of Young America shirts in the audience in Chicago, I'm told. Seattle, you can beat that! Do it! It's in you!
Chicago, go to Hodgman's party.
(And get there early, last year they had to turn people away.)
Thomas Hayden of Immersive Media was kind enough to share these photos he shot of TSOYA Live! in Seattle this past weekend. Look for the show on the podcast in a few weeks.
This post is going to be sans-graphics, but fulla-info.
If you live in Seattle, I hope I'll see you this weekend at Bumbershoot. And if you can't come this weekend (or if you can), I hope I'll see you at Sketchfest Seattle later in September. Guests at Bumbershoot include Janeane Garofolo and The Human Giant, and at Sketchfest we'll have Dan Savage.
If you're in New York, don't miss Will Franken's "Grandpa, It's Not Fitting" at Ars Nova on Wednesday night. Will is an amazing solo performer who made his name in the San Francisco theater world. He essentially does one man sketch comedy, and what isn't hilarious is always fascinating -- you really go for a ride.
If you're in Los Angeles, don't miss 826 LA's Falltime Yukfest September 10th. I'm really proud to be sponsoring this amazing show, with Tim & Eric, Jimmy Pardo, Al Madrigal, Bill Burr and a bunch of other great stuff. Proceeds benefit 826 LA's literacy programs.
Finally, if you're in San Francisco, and you miss Louis CK at the Punchline Weds-Sat, September 3-6th, you're a fucking idiot. Seriously, just fucking go. There is no better standup in the world right now, and you should count your blessings that you could ever, ever get to see a show like his at a place like the Punchline. Tickets here.
Jay Smooth is the host of WBAI's The Underground Railroad, a blogger at hiphopmusic.com and the creator of the video podcast The Ill Doctrine. I talked with him at The Sound of Young America Live!, part of Sketchfest NYC at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York.
All our videos for this show were shot by Benjamin Ahr Harrison, a New-York based videographer. You can find him online at badcharacter.com. Thanks, Ben! Our audio was captured by Jeff Solomon.

I have gushed a lot about our friends (left to right) Merlin, Scott and Adam and their great show You Look Nice Today, which is really wonderful and great.
They joined us last week at The Monsters of Podcasting Tour in SF, and they've finally posted the results.

Jordan and Jesse record this show live at the Monsters of Podcasting Tour in San Francisco. Special guests Mal Sharpe and Jim Real, "The Master of Would You Rather" join us for a rousing WYR. Also: a special crossover event as the gang from You Look Nice Today join us for a press conference.
