Suspiria

Even though Halloween is over, we're still keeping it spooky. That's right, we're talking about our favorite "witch dance" movie of the year, Suspiria. This week we're so lucky to have the hosts of 'The Bechdel Cast' podcast, Jamie Loftus and Caitlin Durante, on the program. The crew discusses their favorite aspects of the Halloween season. For Caitlin it's the pumpkin shaped Reese's peanut butter cups, for Alonso it's the appearance of the sign banning silly string on Hollywood Boulevard, and for Jamie it's the chance to buy a "Twerking Mummy" toy at CVS. Plus, the gang helps some previously failing movies pass The Bechdel Test. And as always, staff picks.

In news, the Wachowski's are potentially retiring, FilmStruck closes down shop, and the MPAA turns 50.

Weekly Movie Recommendations:

Ricky - Hereditary
Alonso - Monrovia, Indiana
Jamie - Doubt
Caitlin - Paddington and Paddington 2

PLUS, we have two Spotify playlists. One is for Movie Soundtracks and the other is for Movie Scores. Check 'em out!

Next week we're discussing Bohemian Rhapsody with Katie Walsh

With Caitlin Durante, Jamie Loftus, Alonso Duralde, and Ricky Carmona.

The Sisters Brothers

Inkoo is back in the building! She joins Ricky and Alonso in an enthralling discussion of the new Joaquin Phoenix/ John C. Reilly western The Sisters Brothers. As could be expected there is some major disagreement on this movie. For 'What's Good?' Alonso is loving BoJack Horseman. Inkoo is looking forward to eating some LA Korean food. And Ricky is all set to attend his first film festival, the LA Film Festival. Plus, the crew gets a call from field reporter April Wolfe from Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. And always, staff picks.

In news, THR's Top 100 Most Powerful People in Entertainment are very white, Dan Fogelman is mad at white male critics, and Chloé Zhao gets hired for The Eternals.

Weekly Movie Recommendations:

Ricky - Psychokinesis
Alonso - Tea With The Dames
Inkoo - A Simple Favor

PLUS, we have two Spotify playlists. One is for Movie Soundtracks and the other is for Movie Scores. Check 'em out!

Next week we're discussing Night School with Alison Becker

With April Wolfe, Inkoo Kang, Alonso Duralde, and Ricky Carmona.

It’s time, once again, to start deleting programs from our DVRs to make room for new ones. It's almost fall, y'all, which means award shows and the arrival of new network comedies, dramas, dramedies, and what have you. Sooooo Guy Branum, Karen Tongson, and Wynter Mitchell let us in on all the films and TV shows they're most excited about this upcoming season.

Rocketeers, this here preview is the closest most of us will get to an actual harvest. The guys pick over the latest crop of entertainment offerings, including the Murphy Brown reboot, the end of Big Bang Theory, American Horror Story's upcoming convergence of its former Murder House and Coven seasons, the Italian supernatural horror film Suspiria, buzz around Lady Gaga's performance in A Star is Born, and Chloë Sevigny's disappointment over the toning down of the "smash the patriarchy" vibe in her new biopic Lizzie, about Lizzie Borden, notorious for killing her parents with an axe in 1892.

All Abouts

Karen is all about the actor Geoffrey Owens, who played Elvin on The Cosby Show, talking to Robin Roberts on Good Morning America about work, labor shaming, and the false idea that some jobs carry more dignity than others.

Wynter is all about Succession, which is HBO's new drama loosely based on Rupert Murdoch and his family.

Guy is all about Support the Girls starring Regina Hall.

With Guy Branum, Karen Tongson, and Wynter Mitchell-Rohrbaugh.

That's My Jam:

Wynter - Ariana Grande - R.E.M.

Karen - Genesis- That's All.
