Zola (Toby Jones)

This article explains some of the Easter Eggs on Captain America 2. Also, everything you guys said about Russia and Winter is true. Plus the Russia is associated with snow and winter because of Siberia and The October Revolution. (I'm no expert)

Title of the movie

Listening to this episode right now, as I watched it last night with my boyfriend. I had no idea what or who winter soldier referred to … I thought it referred to Bucky and the Cold War. But my boyfriend just told me that it refers to something George Washington (???) said that came up more recently in a speech John Kerry made about Vietnam. Apparently, the "spring" soldier is like a fair-weather friend who doesn't stick around when things get tough. But the winter soldier is steady and a true patriot. That makes me respect the movie even more, that they'd go with such an esoteric reference.
