Arsenic

The use of arsenic in the middle ages started through the mis-translation of an much earlier medical book. Sorry can't remember the names of the books. The substance was translated as arsenic, but was meant to be cinnamon.

Ephedra (in the form of Ephedrine) still used for asthma

It seemed as if you were saying it isn't used any longer, but it still is.
